ABOUT US...
We are Sanne and Ward (and Tijn and Flor) have been proud owners of "Polly" for several months now.
We are in our mid-thirties who love travelling, nature and adventure. We had been looking for a smaller sized van for some time and then this bus came our way. We fell in love instantly..
From March 1, 2023, we will be traveling around the Mediterranean for half a year. Our sons 2 and 4 years old also think this 20-year-old bus is the max!
About the bus...
She is 20 years old. You might think: a musty smell with torn blinds and stalling every 5 feet.
Nothing is less true... :)
The bus is very well maintained. Each window has a mosquito net and blinds so that you can open all windows in hot weather for cooling and it gets very dark when you close everything. The lockers all still work, except 1. The lockers are height over the entire bus so there is certainly enough storage space. There is also a storage cupboard with coat racks where you can hang the coats or bathrobes.
There are spots by the beds if you want to read another book.
The passenger seat is a captain's seat. Handy if you want to eat at the table with five people. The table is extendable so that everyone can easily sit at the table.
The table is also collapsible, so you can convert it into a double bed (160x190)
You can flush the chemical toilet. It is best to empty this in time to avoid unpleasant odors and cleaning work :P
The stove has 3 gas burners for cooking.
The fridge works on 220V (if you have electricity), on 12V (if you drive the car) and on gas.
The fridge also has a small freezer compartment.
There is a socket where you can charge your phone or other things. Charging or using devices that are too heavy is not possible with only the living battery. The living battery is still new and lasts a long time
You can go without electricity (off grid) for at least 10 days.
Via the control panel you can easily check whether you still have enough clean water, and whether the waste water tank is already full. Or how much starter battery and live battery you have left. (to explain this we made a video, because there are quite a few buttons...)
About the engine...
The ENGINE has been well maintained and has only 102,000km. The last batch of very solid Mercedes engine (312D) with a chain. 90KW.
The CONSUMPTION fluctuates between 10 and 12 liters per 100 km and you can take about 500 kg extra weight with you.
About the features...
The mobile home can be used in winter and summer. There are 4 season tires on it.
There is a heating with thermostat, it works on gas. You can control the temperature day and night via the control panel.
There are 2 gas canisters of 20 liters.
There is a gas boiler (15 liters) so you have hot water for washing dishes or showering. You can also easily connect the outdoor shower when the weather is nice.
The garage (140 x 180cm) is located under the fixed bed (same dimensions) at the rear of the bus. You can take your stuff inside or outside.
There is also a small garage where work materials are stored.
The water tank of 100 liters can be filled from the outside with a watering can or garden hose.
The 100 liter diesel tank can be opened when you open the driver's door.
There are 2 solar panels on the roof so that you can live for a longer period, if the sun shines. We say 10 days for safety (and from our own experience), but it could probably be longer...
