EsteVan – On the road with EsteVan

The intention was there... to build an Insta-famous camper. However, it soon became apparent that safety and comfort were a lot higher on our priority list than the world's most photogenic finish. Estevan - our DIY Ford Transit camper - was therefore built with the aim of working and living comfortably remotely for a year.

That year is now (unfortunately) behind us, Anneke and Jonas. For a year we lived comfortably in EsteVan, from where we also worked fulltime. We opted for 100% safety and had all important elements built and/or checked by a professional: windows, water system, gas and electricity.

EsteVan was already in the north of Norway, he drove around in Greece, brought us to Italian cuisine and visited all possible Costas in Spain. Where the next adventure takes him: that's up to you!

✨TECHNICAL✨

- Ford Transit from 2018.
- 130 horses brave mountain and valley.
- 3 seats, 2 sleeping places, a third person can fit in the bed, but then it will be a bit cramped.
- Fully installed for digital nomads who combine work and travel.
- During spring-summer-autumn: All-weather tires; in winter equipped with winter tires.
- Useful Vignettes: France (Crit'air), Germany (Umweltplakette, environmental sticker) and Switzerland (2024)

✨COMFORT✨

- Off-grid possible due to extensive electricity system and large water tanks (dirty 96 L, clean 112 L).
- Battery is charged while driving, via the solar panels or via a cable connected to shore power.
- No hassle with gas bottles, a 70L gas tank is mounted at the bottom of the car, allowing you to cook and heat effortlessly for months (included in the rental price)
- Heating that has survived the Norwegian autumn without any problems (so far I have personal experience with freezing temperatures down to -5°C)
- Exceptionally large bed (200x160cm) with a good, thick mattress and bedding.
- Large (gas) stove (3 burners) with built-in (gas) oven.
- We ensure that all basic necessities are provided for you.

✨SAFETY✨

You don't have to worry that the same two left-handers who installed the crooked skirting boards did the entire construction:

- Gas was completely laid by a professional.
- The electricity system was designed by us, checked by a professional and partly worked out by the professional.
- The water system was also done by the same professional; as was all the mounting of the grey water tank and gas tank at the bottom of the car.
- EsteVan is equipped with two alarm systems: a gas alarm and a smoke alarm.
- We deliver EsteVan with a steering lock and a GPS tracker.

When renting, you will always receive a Safety Briefing so that you can learn how gas and electricity work and how to turn them off if necessary.

✨DECORATION✨

The kitchen is large and fully equipped. A gas stove with 3 cooking zones (it doesn't always have to be one-pot meals) and a full-fledged oven. Did someone shout "Pizza!"? There is a large L-shaped cooking island with a spacious sink (cold and hot water). Pots and pans can be found in the cupboards under the stove. The refrigerator (65 liters) with freezer ensures that you can continue for a while.

Living and sleeping: two spacious sofas with cushions, a table, 2 sockets and 6 USB ports. The bed (200x160cm) slides out easily and can be set up in no time. We provide the necessary bedding. You can of course bring your own teddy bear.

Heating/Water: Cold outside? Not inside! Thanks to the Truma heating, the space heats up quickly via gas and/or shore power. In addition, this system also provides hot water. Ventilation systems keep the air nice and fresh.

Off the grid: Need some seclusion? The ultimate freedom? A large battery and solar panels ensure that you rarely have to stand between the other row of campers on the overly busy campsite. Still need extra power? Everything is provided to recharge you in no time. A toilet is hidden in the cupboard space under the kitchen counter.

Storage: The spacious 'garage' at the back has room for at least 2 large suitcases and some useful extras: levelling blocks, cleaning materials, toiletries, camping chairs and table, a drying rack (if necessary) and all the extras that can be useful for your adventure. You can fill up the water there and the outside shower (also with cold and warm water) provides the necessary refreshment.

In the living area itself there are enough cupboards to store everything. We already fill some ourselves with useful things for the camper, herbs, games, first aid kit, ...

✨RENT IN A NUTSHELL✨

- Discount for friends and friends of friends!
- Pick up in Mechelen. Hours are flexible. Calendar is up to date.
- Including welcome pack, travel guides and a stocked games cupboard (and an emergency kit!)
- EsteVan drinks Diesel and is returned and delivered full.
- Waste water tank and toilet must be emptied upon return, the rest must be 'swept clean' (we do the major cleaning inside and out).
- Insured via the Goboony day insurance, paid by us. Taking out extra insurance with Goboony is recommended!
