(Driver's license C1) - Ford Thor ACE 30.4 Expandable Motor Home

In July 2022 we rented this camper for three weeks and traveled with our 4 children and dog to Galicia. Our experience: PROs: - large camper with enough space for a large family. - driving license C, so no worries about driving around overloaded - comfortable with all amenities (working or not!!) - very large garage with a 2nd refrigerator. - with a maximum speed of 90 km/h, consumption can be limited to 16 to 17 l/100 km. CONTRAS: - camper has a few years on the clock. As a result, things are starting to work less well, or things are coming loose every now and then. - The nice pictures on the website are misleading. After all, the 2 TVs are of no use. The satellite connection does not work. There is air conditioning that works, but in our case the filter was completely black. - On the 2nd day of travel we got the message of a "GAS FAILURE". We contacted the landlords. Valerie told us to "turn on the gas", and Yo didn't even answer. Then we searched on Youtube and found that a gas failure can be solved by resetting the refrigerators. - The awning was also a bit old and kept getting stuck when first used. This meant it would no longer close completely and we didn't dare to open it afterwards. For months we were bothered with messages from the landlord until Goboony put the church in the middle. Hence a late review. - The camper is 3.9m high and 9 meters long. A special experience to drive with it. So pay attention, because in some countries there are many low bridges. Even though our experience turned out to be a fizzle, we still do not advise against renting this camper. However, some general tips are in order: - never say you already have camper experience. In that case you will get an explanation of less than half an hour. - ask Yo to be present at the explanation of the camper. He also knows the driving part. If you have never driven a Mercedes Atego, it is useful to get a word of explanation. We had to call separately for this. - Check if there is at least 1 fire extinguisher on board. We could not find one. - when explaining the camper, test everything, but then EVERYTHING. Even things you don't dare think about, like the toilet. In our case, part of the bed in the living compartment got stuck. After a long drive, we struggled to carefully get it loose. Test this before leaving! - if possible, do a short test drive with the camper. In our case the steering wheel was not straight and at 90/hour it started to vibrate. We also drove for three weeks with a warning on the dashboard because the maintenance was not done on time. And furthermore, that Blaupunkt radio doesn't work above your head. Nor does the air conditioning in the driver's cabin. - Once everything has been tested and you are convinced to go on the road with this English-German motorhome, check the Goboony GO form very carefully and put any agreements you have made on paper. The rental company told us that he would "overlook" the extra kilometers, but had already forgotten that the number of free kilometers per week had been increased to more than 2000 km/week. He then told Goboony that we had returned the camper DIRTY, while this was the agreement and that 85 euros had also been paid for cleaning costs. - In the meantime, a new awning is hanging on the camper. Be sure to turn it fully open and closed before driving away. In summary: large luxury camper with a few years on the clock. TV, air conditioning and radio in the cabin did not work. No fire extinguisher on board. Landlords are pleasant people but very busy. Sufficient time to get an explanation and to subject the many facilities to a small test, was not there with us.
