Our Gust (we come from Antwerp and Gust is a whopper, a bit big) is a somewhat older mobile home, but in very neat and well-maintained condition. Its name comes from our first impression when we went to see it and we thought it was very big, but that was because we were used to a small camper.
Gust is not overly large, but rather a normal camper in size, but one with a practical layout that provides a lot of space. It has always been lovingly maintained and has many new facilities. With a completely new gas system, new tires, new exhaust, professionally cleaned and maintained water system, solar panel and new battery, you can travel without any worries. With its 2800cc Fiat diesel engine, it moves smoothly in traffic.
We have many years of experience in traveling with a mobile home and have equipped our Gust with everything you need for an optimal camper trip. There is a three-burner fire, an oven, fridge and freezer, all on gas. There are always two gas bottles provided so that you never run out. With the solar panel you always have electricity and with the inverter you can also easily connect small electrical appliances with a regular plug. The fridge and freezer also work on electricity when connected to the plug.
The kitchen is equipped with all cooking utensils, cutlery, glasses, plates, bowls, colander and of course a bottle opener ;-) The vapor camp is extra handy for those who cook indoors.
The bathroom has a separate shower with shower curtain and a handy toilet.
The 'bedrooms' consist of a fixed bed at the back above the garage (with new mattress and mattress topper) and a bed in the alcove that is finished with a safety net for smaller children. The seating area can be converted into two additional sleeping places (especially suitable for children).
The gigantic garage can easily accommodate three bicycles, but we use it to store our table for four, two luxury camping chairs and two folding chairs, a foldable outdoor kitchen with a shield for the gas fire and a small side table to help with outdoor cooking (or for other applications of course), a two-burner fire with a small gas bottle for outdoor cooking and all material for connecting the mobile home to the electricity grid when available. The bicycle rack can also be used as standard (to be placed on the towbar), but if you don't need it, we just keep it at home. If you do take bicycles with you, you can use the bicycle cover with a red and white striped warning sign. Furthermore, everything is there to fill up with water along the way, there are new ramps for uneven terrain and there is a very large awning (with tension straps and ground hooks for extra reinforcement) for shelter from the sun and rain.
It is possible to bring sheets, duvets, pillowcases, towels for personal use or kitchen use. However, it is not a must for those who prefer to bring their own. There are four new pillows in the mobile home as standard, but those who prefer to sleep on their own pillow can of course do that too.
Cleaning utensils are always available in the mobile home, along with charging cables, mood lamps, extension cables, four blankets for cooler evenings and all kinds of tools for solving any minor problems along the way. The necessary products for cleaning the toilet cassette are also always in stock, as well as toilet paper and kitchen roll.
If you have a day at the beach in mind, you will find a beach bag, beach towels and beach mat, air mattresses for the water, a parasol and a beach tent in the garage.
For extra safety, there is a new smoke detector (installation May 2024) and a CO detector (installation March 2023) and fire blanket, as well as extra locks on the cabin, garage and entrance door. A new first aid kit (purchased in May 2024) also travels with us every time.
Gust does not have air conditioning, but has many large windows and three skylights that provide sufficient ventilation. A Maxxfan roof fan will be added soon.
For those who like to get off the beaten track, we are happy to offer our France Passion subscription. With this formula you can stay for free at more than 2,200 farmers, winegrowers and other destinations in France. Simply show the vignette on the windshield or the guide and ask where you can stand. This is usually off grid, but as described, this is no problem at all for Gust.
