Hello everyone!
We would like to make our wonderful T5 Camper accessible to other users in this way. No question, of course there is also a financial aspect behind it! :-)
Whether for an extensive holiday, a visit to a festival or a short trip at the weekend. Basically everything is possible after consultation.
I expanded the T5.2 by hand myself and the concept offers extensive camping expansion. There are basically 4 beds, with the upper bunks being more suitable for children. The sleeping platform at the top can be tailored to different lengths. Depending on your needs, several solutions are possible by arrangement. The bed below folds over the folded bench in two easy steps. There is an 11 cm thick foam mattress in the car on which you can sleep very well. Width of sleeping area below 141 cm, length 204 cm. For the upper sleeping level I can offer a mattress with a length of 160 cm to 200 cm (approx. 160/180/200 cm x 120 cm x 6 cm).
In addition, I can offer fall protection for small children on a mattress length of approx. 130cm. The barrier is about 20-25cm high. Other solutions should also be possible.
I did the furniture conversion myself and it offers a lot of storage space. A highlight is the rear cabinet with its 5 drawers. In addition to cooking with a very spacious and powerful 3-flame gas cooker, it also offers plenty of storage space for food and other things. The gas cooker is mobile in its cupboard and can also be operated elsewhere.
A sink with a water tap and fresh and waste water (12 liters each) will be integrated and is not yet part of the mobile home conversion.
Our Günther has good basic equipment and offers cruise control, electric mirrors and windows, multifunction display, air conditioning and a touch screen radio with DVD, Bluetooth, hands-free system, USB, rear view camera and audio connection. A good JBL 3-way sound system is installed for the front. JBL 3-way boxes with their own small power amplifier follow at the back. Two volt displays provide information about the status of the starter and on-board batteries.
The sliding door can be closed very easily with the closing aid and does not have to be slammed shut. :-)
A trailer hitch offers the possibility to take bicycles with you.
Another highlight: the electrics!
There is an original water heater and 1 additional battery on board, which takes over the 12 volt supply in the event that there is no 230V mains. Thanks to the solar cell on the roof, you can stand self-sufficient for a while. The charging booster integrated in the charger charges the second battery in 3-4 hours while driving. There are several USB, 12 volt and 230V sockets in the car. In addition, an LED display shows the status of the starter and second battery.
A connection to the 230 volt network is possible through an external socket. At the same time, when shore power is applied, the batteries are charged by the integrated charger.
A sine wave inverter with 700W can replace the 230V connection for a short time or while driving. Then there is also electricity from the socket without shore power. :-) Of course it takes a lot of juice from the on-board battery.
The professional compressor cooler almost 40 liters and cools down to -18° on request! Even at 40° outside temperature, every beer stays cold and every butter hard.
A hinged window in the roof, the two sliding windows below and the openable roof hatch ensure sufficient ventilation in the car. A fan is retrofitted for the roof hatch, which either sucks in fresh air or expels used air outside. All windows can be blacked out.
A fly screen for the rear and front is to follow, but is currently not part of the equipment.
A tarp (included) can be attached to the outside of the car with poles, so that you are reasonably protected even in bad weather. In the pictures you can see an example structure. You can also use the keder rail to attach your own roofing.
If the weather is bad, everyone can have breakfast in the car. The rotating front seats and table, which is housed in the sliding door to save space, are ideal for this. The seats offer excellent comfort while driving with armrests and lumbar adjustment. Good VW chairs that don't tire you out that quickly!
The car offers multiple storage compartments and enough storage space for a family of 4. Ideal and with plenty of space for 2 people! The big advantage is the headroom in the car.
In the car there is an extensive basic cooking equipment with cups, plates, cutlery, pots, cooking utensils, kettle, thermos flask and many utensils that you need for camping. I would be happy to send you an inventory list by email upon request!
The car is regularly serviced by me and checked after every long and short drive. Everything works and defects are fixed immediately. For 30 years I have been servicing my vehicles myself as far as possible. In the field of the T5 I would describe myself as a semi-professional. I work very cleanly and very conscientiously, after all my family is going with me too!
The T5 runs and shifts excellently with moderate consumption. The 140 hp are more than sufficient as performance. Of course it's not a racing car! The ideal compromise for travel due to its size and features. Not too much and not too little luxury! :-)
Of course, we expect every renter to treat the vehicle as carefully as we would and as they treat their own vehicle. But I think that goes without saying.
Each renter receives a detailed briefing on the bus. Pre-inspections are also possible by arrangement.
Since we are very friendly and dear landlords, we often accommodate our tenants and try to make everything possible for us.
If you still have questions, just bring them on!
Kind regards Dirk
