How nice that you want to go out with a camper and it will be even more fun with an older camper like this. Her name is De Rooie Donder, she is a 1988 Volkswagen T3 and has had two very caring owners. We are still very happy with the purchase 5 years ago and we never thought that you can become so attached to a means of transport. We have seen so many cool, beautiful places with this and now we want to share it with others. Countries such as Norway, Sweden and the Czech Republic were very special, as were weekends at a campsite in the Netherlands or to a festival.
This bus is suitable for 2 people. The size of the bus is large enough to stand upright and small enough to park very easily (very small turning circle). It is a very good therapeutic bus to relax because it has a cruising speed of 90 km/h. Drive on the right and you no longer care about the traffic.
There is a compact kitchen with a 3-burner gas stove, refrigerator and sink. You can sleep wonderfully at the bottom by laying the cushions of the bench flat.
Bonus:
- With this bus you save money because a high roof offers a lot of storage space! You fill the bus with provisions so that you don't have to buy from expensive foreign supermarkets
- The high roof makes it easy to stand without first raising the roof
- You can pick up along the highway near Utrecht and you can leave your car here for free in our parking lot. This way your car is safely at our door. We are also easy to reach by public transport.
- Because the passenger seat has a turntable, there is more seating space
-Are you going surfing? The shelves can be placed on the inside of the cabinets (distance = ... cm). Can accommodate a maximum of two boards (no longboards)
- The Rooie Donder is a diesel. The advantage is that it is a bit cheaper to drive and you can travel more kilometers (1:12).
- Because it has a very small turning circle, parking is very easy
- The white, insulated roof provides some cooling and the fan in the roof also helps with this. It can also be used as an extractor while cooking
- To make it easy for you, we have prepared our own camping chairs, table, kitchen inventory, coffee maker, fresh bed linen and kitchen textiles for you in the bus. We can review this list before departure so that you can be sure you don't forget anything
Things to take into account:
- Some European cities have an environmental zone that the Rooie Donder is not allowed to enter (fine at your own expense)
- The Rooie Donder has no power steering. This takes some getting used to when turning when driving slowly
- The bed is really too small for people of 190 cm and taller
- Recently the tank float has been performing a little less well. This means that the indicator on the tank is not equally reliable. With a full tank (60 liters) you can drive approximately 700 km
- You can drive a maximum of 95 km/h, but she is made for cruising, it is a holiday after all. Cruising speed is 90 km/h. You can climb a hill or mountain, but the average speed is 45 km/h
The engine runs nicely, it gets a major service every other year and the MOT is good until May 2025.
