Freedom Escapes
Freedom Escapes is a small family-run business and we pride ourselves on friendly, flexible service and attention to detail. We have a small fleet of Volkswagen Transporter T6 Campervans and Swift Escape Motorhomes. All of our vehicles are modern and well equipped and kept to a high standard. They are available for rental at extremely competitive prices.
All of our Campervans have a brand new fit out for 2020 so you can be assured of a holiday Vehicle that is equipped with all the latest equipment for your comfort, safety and convenience.
Our love of Campervans was born through a family holiday touring through France and Spain. Oddly enough we travelled by car and stayed in hotels, but it was during that trip we had the idea of doing it in a campervan. Once we returned home, we set about searching for our perfect campervan. After travelling up and down the country for several weeks, we eventually found a 1968 very early Volkswagen Bay Window in Newcastle, about 30 miles from our base in Hartlepool. A really cool Mango green and white, his name was Stan and he is still with us today. We did our first European trip in Stan, we had somewhat of a route planned, but it was very relaxed and had plenty of spare days and flexibility built into it. It was during this trip that we discovered the liberating sense of freedom and escape.
It wasn't long before we bought a more modern Volkswagen Transporter T5 (the T6 wasn't available back then), The T5 was much more reliable and a much easier drive for the longer distance travelling such as Spain and Italy, and in 2013 I gave up my job and started to tour Europe extensively, sometimes in convoy with several vehicles and many friends and other times just as a lone vehicle. I had trips lasting from two weeks to six months, I enjoyed every minute of my trips, so much so that we decided to run our own Rental company.
We believe our own experience of travelling and living the dream gives us a distinct advantage in preparing our vehicles for your adventure of a lifetime.
