Welcome to Tom, so called because of his great colour! (Tomato red!)
Tom is a 2014 high-end Ford Transit Custom High Top, converted from new, who is situated on the beautiful Isle of Wight, and which is ready for you to explore this wonderful island. He has a six-speed manual gearbox. and is easy to drive, so if you’ve never driven a van, now is the time to start – He’s perfect.
We’ve tried to include everything to make it a 'home from home', and at no extra cost, (unlike some other renters). This includes a double duvet, pillows, bed linen and towels. Who wants to bring their own bed linen, duvet, and towels!
Tea and coffee is also supplied, as well as a small carton of milk.
Tom is fully equipped and has a full fuel tank of diesel.
He has a rock n’ roll bed which folds up for dining seats or two extra passengers if on the move (with seatbelts). There is a top-end diesel heater for those chilly evenings. The kitchen is well stocked with pans, utensils, a full dinner set, and cutlery.
There is a double gas hob, sink, running (cold) water and a two-way Dometic compressor fridge with a small freezer There is also a removable dining table, with seating for four, (the front double passenger seat swivels round).
There is a large solar panel on the roof, and a large leisure battery, as well as a 240V inverter, so low wattage items such as laptops and mobile phones can be powered.
If you wish to bring your own bikes, a tow-bar mounted bike rack is available for two bikes, which can be included at no extra cost.
The rock n’ roll bed in the back measures 111cm by 173m, which can be folded upwards and used for dining seats, and for taking an extra two passengers, (fitted with seatbelts).
UTILITIES & EQUIPMENT
The solar power and leisure battery supplies 12volt sockets, plus an 240 volt inverter, which means 240v appliances can be used. In the summer the solar panel supplies plenty of power, so mobile phones, laptops, and similar items can be recharged, though in winter, as the sun is weaker, not so much power will be produced
Tom has a Eberspaecher very efficient diesel heater. On a cold summer’s day, (or if you hire the van in winter), the heater can be turned on, and in minutes a nice and warm atmosphere is created. The heater takes the fuel from the main fuel tank and is very economical to run.
This van is well insulated - Under the carpet-lining, and behind the panels, making this an ideal winter hire van, whilst at the same time keeping it cooler in summer on those hopefully sunny and scorching days.
There is an electric hook-up lead enabling Tom to be connected to mains power (usually for a small surcharge, if staying at a campsite), which will run the fridge, and all other items from the mains.
Wheel wedges are supplied which can be used if Tom is parked on uneven ground, to help level the van.
Solar shower – Please note this is an outdoor item that can be hung from a tree or similar.
Also included, if you wish to use it, is a quick erect drive-away Khyam classic awning, which gives you an extra large room, two camping chairs, a table, and a small fold-up stool.
Wind out Fiamma awning.

We’ve done everything we can to make this van as safe as possible. There is a fire blanket, fire extinguisher and a carbon monoxide alarm. There are vents in two of the windows, as well as sliding opening windows, ensuring you can keep the van well ventilated.

DO
Please treat Tom with respect at all times.
Please return the vehicle clean, and fully refuelled.
DON'T
Smoke inside the vehicle.
Ever leave the hob unattended.
Drive too fast – although this van is very easy to drive, and can reach speeds of 80mph and over, please remember that if the water and fuel tanks are full, as well as personal belongings, the stopping distance is GREATLY increased. For your own safety, please drive responsibly.
Drive under the influence of any drugs or alcohol.
Never turn on the hob to try and heat the van. This is how people get carbon monoxide poisoning.
N.B.

Attending festivals is allowed, but only by prior agreement.
