Time to adjust to a slower pace. Time to set the satnav to avoid the motorways and explore the beauty of the British countryside. Discovering those often missed gems. Our Doris is our pride and joy. Well maintained, basic, but beautiful, functional, classic and dependable. Also, quite noisy, above 50mph, so radio may need turning up 😀
If it rains, you need to turn on wipers, if it goes dark, you need to switch the lights on, none of the trappings of a modern car. A full run through before departure will be done as well as support while out and about.
If you haven’t ever experienced, and have always wanted to drive an iconic Land Rover Defender, then why not give it a try. You will get plenty of waves from other Land Rovers, as well as pedestrians slowing to watch as you cruise by. Smiles galore for both you, the driver, and those who see you. We have had feedback from guests who say they likened the Land Rover Camping experience to having a baby or new puppy, in that you will get plenty of people wanting to chat and look around Doris.
So, Our Doris is well equipped, with pots, pans, plates, kitchen utensils, double burner stove and gas bottle as well as single burner stove for the shorter pit stops, Moka coffee pot, kettle, 4 chairs, table, on board expedition fridge running from onboard leisure battery, water containers, large awning on the side, with lighting, roof tent with lighting, lots of 12v points and usb outlets. As well as plenty of other battery lights to distribute as needed. There are 2 detachable tables, one which mounts on the rear door as well as one which mounts to the side of the roll cage under the awning.
Doris also has her own backpack - an ex army rucksack mounted on the spare wheel to keep all the ‘odours’ from bin bags outside. Which proves to be quite a conversation starter too..
We do not usually supply sleeping bags or pillows , as these are quite a personal choice and seasonally vary, but please do not hesitate in asking any questions prior to booking. We include 2 blankets to help keep warm whilst sitting outside on the cooler days/evenings.
We consider we have pretty much everything on board, but if in doubt, just ask.
