Our lovely camper van took our family (2 adults and 3 children (then 4-10-14) 2 years ago, for 9 months, without any problems, through the whole of Europe to the most beautiful places. It is a 3.0 TDI with 6 gears, so even the mountains (with a trailer) are no problem. It also has a reversing camera.
The camper has 2 seats with seat belts in the front, and a total of 6 people can sit on the side benches in the back (without seat belts).
We designed the bus ourselves, and partly built it ourselves. So that it had the ideal layout for our trip. Which means that there is a lot of cupboard space, a spacious fridge with freezer compartment, and enough countertop to be able to cook nicely, with a stove that is in a drawer so that it does not take up any countertop space.
For us this bus is really a second home, not the perfect beautiful ready-made camper as you sometimes see, but one in which has been lived and may be lived and where you sometimes have a greenhouse that flies open while driving. (we did have a few full jars of honey broken during the journey, when they fell out of a cupboard in a bend). For us that is the charm of this self-made, complete, off grid, child proof camper.
SITTING and SLEEPING
The U-shaped seating area can be converted into a bed of 185 x 185, so we (still) sleep with 3. In addition, there are two beds that you can hang up and where children can lie down wonderfully. These are 60 x 175 and 60 x 165.
Sleeping bags for these two beds are included and also a woolen underblanket for more comfort. The large bed also includes bedding. There is also the option for a mattress topper so that the large bed is a bit softer. This topper is 185 x 140, so it does not quite cover the entire bed. (We ourselves lie on the topper and our youngest of 6 on the part without a topper, which is a nice den for him)
BRING YOUR OWN: Your own pillow.
Under the seating area is the battery on one side and the fresh water tank on the other. In addition, there is space for extra items on both sides. There is also plenty of space for items at the rear. There are also the water hose, cables and plugs.
KITCHEN
There is a full sink in the camper, a gas stove with three burners that is in a drawer and you pull out when you are going to cook. There is more than enough cupboard space to store all your groceries properly. More than enough crockery and pans. No hassle with an inventory list for the crockery, if something is broken we will replenish it from a thrift store visit. There is also a wonder pan, or an oven for the gas stove, so a cake or fresh bread during your holiday, it is all possible.
COOKING: you do it on LPG, and you can choose to cook indoors or outdoors.
REFRIGERATOR: this runs on electricity, via the battery which is fed while driving, via the solar panels or via a cable to the pole.
NOTE: The battery should never be below 70/75%, otherwise the battery will be damaged.
WATER: the camper is equipped with an 80 liter fresh water tank and an 80 liter waste water tank.
All basic kitchen supplies are present, 4 tea towels, 2 hand towels, dish cloths, dishwashing liquid. Also a basic assortment of herbs (coriander, cumin, Celtic sea salt, ginger, organic cinnamon, curry, organic oregano, organic thyme, chilli powder, smoked paprika powder, coarsely ground black pepper, turmeric, baking soda)
TOILET
There is no bathroom in the camper, you can shower at a campsite or quickly with a washcloth at the sink. There is a toilet, you can choose between a porta potti or a compost toilet. You do not need a campsite to empty a compost toilet, but you do need a porta potti. We are happy to tell you about the differences in a message.
COOLING and HEATING
The maxxfan provides cooling, removes warm air or blows in fresh air.
The diesel heater is wonderful for colder days.
PETS
These are certainly welcome, but they are not allowed on the couch/bed. The camper must also be returned to her free of charge.
You will receive a detailed explanation of how everything works upon departure, as well as a manual. In addition, I am of course available for all your questions along the way.
A lot is possible with us in consultation, times of departure and arrival, which items you want to use and which not.
We assume that you will return the camper clean, if this is not the case we will charge a cleaning fee of €50, which will be deducted from your deposit.
We are open to all questions and would now like to let you enjoy this wonderful camper van.
