1994 VW T4 campervan, with cosy wood panelled and carpeted living area plus heating. Room for 2 to sleep. Pick up from Tyne and Wear in the North East of England for touring through Northumberland or North Yorkshire, close to the Scottish Borders and not far from The Lakes.
This is a fun compact van ideal for short trips or driving about on tours - small enough to park in regular car parks and drive on narrow roads.
INSURANCE
You will need to arrange your own insurance for the duration of the hire which will need to be confirmed before the booking is complete. Contact me for information on arranging insurance but I’d recommend checking Dayinsure.com first - prices vary depending on your age, where you live and how long the renal is, but somewhere around £15-£30/day. Note: Breakdown assistance is already covered so you don't need to include that in your insurance.
THE VAN
The cab features a captains seat with foldable armrests for comfortable driving, with a bluetooth radio and USB charging. There are 3 seatbelt positions in the front (none in the back) but I’d recommend only two adults for this van.
The living area has a fixed roof with wood panelling. There is a double gas stove and a cold water sink. A built in leisure battery provides you with USB charging for mobile devices and a 12v socket for the cool box which is included (If you don't need the coolbox it can be removed to make extra space). If you want 24v mains power (for Laptops etc) electrical hookup is available via the external cable (note you'll need to book campsites with electrical hookup for this!). The front passenger seats can fold down flat or swivel around to create more seating, and there is a removable dining table which fits in the centre of the living space. Optional wooden legs can be added to the table to set it up outside. A second table option is available using the top of the rear storage area (see the photos to make sense of that!). Cutlery and crockery, pans, a kettle and a stove-top espresso machine are provided.
The van is fitted with a diesel powered air heater. In the summer it's pretty toasty in there anyway, but it’ll give you a nice warm boost at nighttime. The tailgate opens (if you don't have the bike rack) to provide a covered area, or just nice to pop it open in the morning for some fresh air.
A bike rack is available which holds up to 4 bikes on the rear of the van- please request this at the time of booking as the default set up is without the rack..
The "Rock and roll bed" converts from rear seating into a double bed. Basic blankets, pillows and sleeping bags are provided. If you prefer your own bedding or a duvet bring these along (let me know before the booking and I can make more space for your own linens).
There's a few more notes in the 'house rules' section, but if you have any questions drop me a line and I'll get back to you.
